Materials

• Yarn: 100% cotton fingering weight yarn, 100m
• Crochet hook: 3mm or size required to obtain gauge
• Yarn needle 
• Scissors 
• Stitch markers may come handy as well

Gauge

20 sts in 11.5 of double crochet is 4’’

Finished dimension

Base: 2.5’’ diameter

Height: about 8.25’’ excluding handle

Abbreviations

ch – chain

dc – double crochet

R – round

sc – single crochet

sctrtog – single crochet and treble crochet together

slst – slip stitch

sp – space

st – stitch

Special stitches

• sctrtog: insert hook into the ch7-sp and pull up a loop, yarn over twice, insert hook into the next sc, (yarn over and pull through two loops) twice, 3 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through all 3 loops.

Note

• The ch2/ch1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch
• The sctrtog marks the end of that round. There is no slst to join in that round.

Instructions

Base

Magic ring

R1: ch2, 12hdc in the ring. slst to join

R2: ch2, 2hdc in each hdc. Slst to join

R3: ch2, *hdc, 2hdc in next st* 12 times, slst to join

R4: ch2, *2hdc, hdc in next 2sts* 12 times, slst to join

R5: ch2, hdc in 3 sts, 2hdc in next st* 12 times, slst to join

R6: ch2, hdc in each st. Slst to join.

At the end of the base, you will have 60 hdc.

Body

R1: ch1,sc2, *ch7, sk3, sc3* 9 times, ch7, sk3, sc in last st. Join with slst

R2: ch1,*sc, sk next sc, ch3, sc on ch7-sp, ch3, sk next sc* 9 times, ch3, sctrtog.

R3: ch1, sc in the same st, sc on the leg of tr, *ch7, sc in next ch3-sp, sc on sc, sc on next ch3-sp* repeat 9 times, ch7, sc in last ch3-sp, join with slst.

Repeat R2 and R3 until desired height

End with R2

Next R:  ch1, sc in the same st, sc on the leg of tr, *ch3, sc in next ch3-sp, sc on sc, sc on next ch3-sp* repeat 9 times, ch3, sc in last ch3-sp, join with slst.

Last R: ch2, hdc in each stitch across [60 hdc]

Do not fasten off.

Continue with handle

Mark 31st to 34th stitch counting from the join

Handle

1. Ch50
2. Slst on 34th and 33rd st
3. Hdc in each of the ch
4. Slst in the 2nd and 3rd st
5. Hdc on 3rd loop in each of the sts
6. Slst on the 32nd and 31st st
7. Hdc on 3rd loop in each of the sts
8. Slst in the 4th st.

Fasten off and weave in the ends.
