Minerva Cardi: Simple filet crochet kimono cardigan

crochet kimono cardigan Minerva Cardi

Minerva Cardi is a filet crochet kimono cardigan pattern with simple repetitive stitch patterns. It is an explorative design to take your filet crochet technique to the next level beyond home décor.

Minerva Cardi: a tribute through crochet

Minerva is the Roman Goddess of wisdom and warfare, in simple words, the feminine energy and representative of brains and bravery. But this cardigan is named after the Transformation Professor, Deputy Headmistress at Hogwarts and the badass witch Minerva McGonagall. She plays a pivotal role in the Harry Potter series and is also one of the unsung heroes. Minerva cardi, the crochet kimono cardigan, is my ode through crochet to the badass professor at Hogwarts.

Construction

Minerva Cardi is a one size fits most kimono inspired cardigan. It is crocheted in one piece from one side to another, folded and joined to form the sleeves. There is absolutely no sewing involved, unless you choose to sew over slip stitch join for sleeve separation. After crocheting the main part of the cardigan, it is finished at the bottom edge with a beautiful pom-pom edging.

In the pattern, you will find both written instructions and illustrations to support each other. Step-by-step instructions with photo tutorials are also given to enable easy sleeve separation. Thus Minerva cardi crochet pattern for the filet crochet tote is fully equipped for all kinds of makers.

Prerequisites

The cardigan is designed with filet crochet technique, where every solid block is a 3-dc and open block, dc,ch1,dc. While placing the stitches in the ch1-sp, place them below the chain and not into the chain. Remember to count your ch1 spaces while counting your stitches. To learn the fundamentals of filet crochet technique, read THIS post.

Every row that begins with a double crochet stitch is substituted with a chainless double crochet, to have a clean edge. This will not be mentioned in every row in the instruction and is understood that the first dc is a chainless double crochet stitch.
